Sunkoshi River Disaster Fundraiser
More About Campaign
This is a picture of the landslide that completely blocked the Sunkoshi River Valley, isolating many villages, and the city of Barhabise from civilization. This area is on the mountain pass between Kathmandu the capital of Nepal, and the border with Tibet, which is in the People's Republic of China.
Here is Madhav Bhandari, the founder of Community Service of Nepal, passing out relief supplies to people who have been affected by the disaster. He had to ride for days on a rough track road through the mountains to bypass the landslide and get to the affected area. This is the group whose work your Tshirt will support, as they work to REPAIR and REBUILD the homes of the people who survived the landslide, but whose homes were destroyed or made unlivable.
1158 people are homeless, and have nowhere to go. That is 219 households. They just watch the government work to make a channel through the landslide to allow the water of the Sunkoshi River to flow, and drain the lake that has formed behind the landslide.
Here, rescue workers move boulders to open a channel so that the mighty Sunkosi river can flow again, and the city 2 miles up river will not be consumed by the lake caused by the landslide damming the river.

Because it is such a worthy cause, and I know Community Service of Nepal will make good use of my money.
I wish we could do more to help all people in need all over the world
